Mala Parvathy Questions AMMA's Acceptance of Adani Funds, Raises Concerns About Sangh Parivar Influence

Thiruvananthapuram: Actress Mala Parvathy has rejected AMMA president Shweta Menon's claim that the actors' organisation accepted funds from the Adani Group to help artistes without regular income. AMMA is an organisation with good income and assets, she told News Malayalam channel, adding that just the names of Mohanlal and Mammootty are enough to raise funds for the organisation. She also added that in the past the organisation had made money for stage shows through donations. Her concern, she said, is whether accepting money from donors like Adani and Ambani also means implementing their agendas.
She pointed out that a charitable society faces restrictions on how it accepts money, and that collecting funds without maintaining proper accounts is only harmful to the organisation. She noted that Kuku Parameswaran had said there were no accounts because everything was in disarray — something she called unprecedented. Asking for accounts, she said, is the right of the general body, and she will not step back just because some call it a conspiracy.
Mala Parvathy also raised concerns about the attempt to tarnish actress Ansiba Hassan, noting that some people branded her as a terrorist while others called her a jihadi. She said actress Lakshmipriya had held a press conference alleging that religious extremists were backing Ansiba, and had gone around claiming Ansiba had tried to convert others to her religion. She questioned what purpose all this served and said everything needs to be read together.
She said Hindutva saffronisation is being aggressively pushed in Hindi cinema, where Muslim characters are never portrayed as righteous. Malayalam cinema is different, but she said she suspects that the current developments may be part of an attempt by the Sangh Parivar to infiltrate Malayalam cinema by creating certain narratives.
