Kochi: The police's stance that a case could not be registered against actor Tini Tom based on actress Ansiba Hassan's complaint has received a severe setback in court. Finding the police investigation report incomplete, the court observed that Tini Tom had prima facie committed an offence and ordered a detailed investigation into the matter.

Ansiba had filed a complaint with Kadavanthra police alleging that Tini Tom had subjected her to racial and communal abuse. However, police had been unwilling to register an FIR, claiming there was no evidence and that the allegations amounted to hearsay. Ansiba then approached the court seeking justice. The court has now fully rejected the police's position.

The police report had strangely argued that the abusive remarks, including the use of the word "jihadi," were merely said in jest. The court firmly rejected this argument, observing that such remarks cannot be treated as jokes and that a proper investigation is needed into the incident. The court issued strict directions to Kadavanthra police to register the case and carry out a detailed probe.

Reports indicate that actress Neena Kurup's statement in the case has come out in Ansiba's favour, with the court order also noting that Neena Kurup's testimony was crucial to the case. This court order, arising from allegations of communal abuse in the film industry, is certain to spark major discussion in the coming days.
