Iran Grants Access to Hormuz Strait for Friendly Countries, Including India

Tehran: Iran has announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for trade vessels for friendly countries, including India. Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, clarified that permission has been granted for the movement of cargo ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

The countries granted permission include India, China, Russia, Iraq, and Pakistan. This statement was made by the Iranian Consul General in Mumbai regarding Abbas Araghchi's comments. The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, had requested the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. It is reported that Iran's decision followed this request. Guterres had also urged the United States and Israel to end the conflict in the Middle East.

Closing the Strait of Hormuz disrupts the movement of oil and gas, causing severe damage to the region and beyond, with ordinary people suffering and living in insecurity. Guterres stated that ending the war is the right decision in order to minimise the consequences of the conflict.
