Vijay to Be Sworn In as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Today; Nine-Member Cabinet to Take Charge

Chennai: Ending days of political uncertainty, actor-turned-politician Vijay will be sworn in as Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister today at a ceremony at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai at 10 am. Governor will administer the oath. A nine-member Cabinet is also expected to take charge alongside Vijay.
On Saturday evening, Vijay visited Raj Bhavan and submitted letters of support from 120 MLAs to Governor Rajendra Arlekar — his fourth meeting with the Governor in the span of a week as he sought an invitation to form the government.
The uncertainty that had persisted since the election results came out has been resolved after DMK alliance partners extended support to TVK. The parties that declared support for Vijay's coalition government are Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), CPI, CPI(M), and Congress — providing him the majority needed to form a stable government. TVK had won 108 seats as the single largest party in the 234-member assembly.
