New Delhi: Airlines have announced special flights to Ahmedabad to cope with the surge in travel demand ahead of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final, which will see India take on New Zealand on March 8.

Carriers including Air India Express and Akasa Air said they will operate additional flights to the city to accommodate thousands of cricket fans planning to attend the title clash. The extra services will connect Ahmedabad with major cities such as Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Hyderabad, where demand for tickets has surged following India’s entry into the final.

Akasa Air has also announced special match-day flights between Mumbai and Ahmedabad on March 8 and 9, allowing supporters to travel to the match and return the same day if needed. The airline said the move is aimed at easing the rush of fans heading to witness one of the biggest matches of the tournament.

The final will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s largest cricket stadium, which is expected to host a packed crowd for the championship decider.

With excitement building across the country, travel demand to Ahmedabad has surged sharply, pushing up airfares and filling trains as fans race to secure seats for the high-profile encounter. Authorities and transport operators have been increasing capacity to handle the influx of spectators expected for the final.
