Lucknow: In response to India's recent military operation against terrorist hubs in Pakistan, Uttar Pradesh has declared a red alert, with heightened security measures in place across the state. Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar announced the decision, emphasising the need for increased vigilance. A similar high alert has been issued in neighbouring border states, including Punjab and Rajasthan, as a precautionary measure.
The Uttar Pradesh Police have been instructed to coordinate with defence units and strengthen security at critical locations. The DGP reassured the public, stating that maintaining safety and security remains the primary concern. In Rajasthan, educational institutions located near border areas have been temporarily closed to ensure the safety of students.
Operation Sindhoor was carried out by the Indian Armed Forces early Wednesday morning, targeting terrorist centres in Pakistan. According to military reports, nine such centres were successfully destroyed, including strongholds linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad. The armed forces clarified that only the terrorist hubs were targeted, ensuring that no military or civilian populations were harmed.
The operation comes in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, which took place on April 22 in the Baisaran Valley of Kashmir. In the attack, 26 people were killed. Following the incident, India took diplomatic actions against Pakistan, which was later confirmed to be involved in the attack.
