Hospital Report Contradicts Centre, Delhi Police Claim on Not Using Pellet Gun Against Protesters

New Delhi: A hospital report has contradicted the claims made by the Central government and the Delhi Police that pellet guns were not used against youths who marched towards Parliament to protest the irregularities in the NEET examination. Pellets have been surgically removed from the eye of a young protester who was seriously injured during the action by central paramilitary forces and the Delhi Police.

The injured protester, Sheikh Irshad Mansoori (25), is undergoing treatment at Delhi's Lady Hardinge Hospital, where he underwent surgery. Hospital sources said pellets were also lodged in his chest and neck and would need to be removed. Friends of the injured youth alleged that personnel of the uniformed Rapid Action Force (RAF) carried out the attack.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which is leading the protest, had earlier alleged that several protesters were injured due to the use of pellet guns. Images of protesters with pellet injuries also circulated widely on social media. Following this, the Central government and the Delhi Police dismissed the allegations as misinformation.
