New Delhi: BJP Kerala state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar avoided answering questions regarding attacks on Christmas celebrations after participating in a prayer event at the Cathedral Church of the Redemption in Delhi alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Chandrasekhar claimed he did not witness restrictions on entry for worshippers at the church, which occurred due to the Prime Minister’s unannounced visit. When asked about attacks in Palakkad and other places across the country, he refrained from providing concrete responses.

He remarked that it was a “good Christmas day” and political controversies should be avoided, and referred to the attacks by Sangh Parivar outfits, including Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, as actions carried out by fringe elements, distancing the BJP from responsibility.

Despite the Prime Minister visiting churches to foster goodwill, attacks on Christians and their places of worship continue in BJP-governed states, raising nationwide protests. Chandrasekhar’s response has been criticized as evasive and irresponsible in the context of ongoing religious violence.
