NTA's Major Blunder: Nagpur Student Allotted Exam Centre in Abu Dhabi for NEET-UG Re-test

Nagpur: A serious lapse by the NTA has surfaced in the admit card for the NEET-UG re-test scheduled for June 21, with a student who applied from Nagpur, Maharashtra, finding himself allotted an examination centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The error, which came to light just before the examination, plunged the student and his family into anxiety. The one affected by the NTA's technical glitch is 18-year-old Abdullah Mohammad Thalib of Nagpur.
Abdullah discovered that his exam centre had been changed from Nagpur to the "Abu Dhabi Indian School" when he downloaded his admit card for the NEET re-test from the official website. When the original NEET exam was cancelled following the question paper leak, his centre had been Saraswati Vidyalaya in Nagpur.
However, with the new admit card for the re-test, the centre shifted to a foreign country nearly 2,500 km away. Abdullah had listed Nagpur as his first preference for the exam centre, followed by the nearby districts of Wardha and Bhandara.
Not only does the family lack the financial means to travel abroad for the examination, the student does not even possess a passport of his own. As the matter became public, the family immediately contacted the NTA helpline and lodged a complaint.
The NTA has claimed that a technical glitch in the system led to this erroneous allotment. NTA Director General Abhishek Singh, who intervened promptly, officially confirmed that the student's complaint had been resolved and that Abdullah had been issued a fresh admit card allotting him an exam centre in his own hometown.
