Thiruvananthapuram: PSC rank holders are preparing for a major protest against the UDF government’s alleged recruitment freeze and actions denying them appointment and job opportunities. Candidates will begin an indefinite protest in front of the Secretariat from August 21, demanding that appointments be made.

The UDF government has effectively imposed restrictions on PSC recruitments since assuming office. Appointments are not being made from existing rank lists, while government departments are also failing to report vacancies properly. The government is avoiding appointments and vacancy reporting on the grounds that new recruitments would create an additional financial burden. Orders and circulars issued by the government that obstruct the recruitment process are also creating uncertainty over the future of candidates.

During the previous government’s tenure, attempts were made to create unnecessary controversies over PSC appointments by joining hands with certain media outlets. The objective was to mislead candidates and undermine the credibility of the PSC. However, the move failed after the PSC gave clear responses to the allegations.

The Rank Holders’ Collective, which staged a protest in front of the Secretariat on July 30, has announced the indefinite agitation from August 21. In the first phase, the All Kerala PSC Driver Rank Holders Coordination Committee will take part in the protest.

The protest committee coordinators also said that CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke would be invited to participate in the protest.
