Joint Trade Unions Launch Nationwide Protest Against Modi Government's Anti-Labor Labor Codes

New Delhi: Joint trade unions across the country have launched a nationwide protest against the labor codes introduced by the Modi government, which are seen as anti-labor. All major trade unions, except the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), are participating in the protest. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has also expressed its solidarity and joined the demonstration as part of the nationwide movement.
The protest coincides with the fifth anniversary of the historic farmers' agitation, which had strongly opposed the Modi government’s policies. Once again, both labor and farmers' organizations have taken to the streets, demanding the withdrawal of the controversial labor codes. The joint trade unions have vowed to continue the protests until the government reverses the unilateral decision to implement these labor reforms.
P. Krishnaprasad, a leader of the All India Kisan Sabha, emphasized that, just like the farmers' movement, mass protests are the only way to protect the future of India. "The Modi government has undermined job security through these labor codes, and this has sparked widespread public anger," he stated.
Demonstrations were held in the national capital, Delhi, and in states including Assam, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Kerala, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and others.
