Municipal Commissioner Removed After 14 People Die From Consuming Contaminated Water in Indore

Indore: The Madhya Pradesh government has taken strict action following the death of 14 people after drinking water was contaminated in Indore. Indore Municipal Commissioner Dilip Kumar Yadav has been removed from his post.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also ordered the suspension of two other officials found responsible for lapses. The tragedy occurred in the Bhagirathpura area of the city, where residents fell ill after consuming conatminated water.
Investigations have revealed that sewage water mixed with the drinking water supply due to a leak in the pipeline, leading to the deaths. At present, more than 200 people are undergoing treatment in various hospitals.
Of them, 32 patients are in critical condition and are being monitored in intensive care units. The Chief Minister intervened directly following widespread public protests against the municipal corporation and its officials.

Reports indicate that criminal action will also be initiated against those found guilty. The incident has come as a major setback for the administration, especially as Indore has repeatedly been ranked as India’s cleanest city.
Authorities have been instructed to set up medical camps in the affected area and carry out urgent repairs to the damaged pipelines.
