Indian Woman Found Stabbed to Death in US; Ex-Boyfriend Named Murder Suspect

New York: An Indian woman was found dead in the United States, in what is suspected to be a murder. The deceased has been identified as Nikita Godishala (27), a data analyst based in Ellicott City, Maryland. Nikita had been reported missing since New Year’s Day and was later found stabbed to death inside her former boyfriend’s apartment.

The body was recovered from an apartment owned by Arjun Sharma (26). The Howard County Police have issued an arrest warrant against Sharma on charges of murder.

Police said it was Arjun Sharma himself who initially reported Nikita missing. In his statement, Sharma told police that he had last seen her at his apartment on December 31. When police conducted a search of the apartment on January 3, Nikita’s body was discovered.

Investigators revealed that on the same day he reported her missing, Arjun Sharma had escaped to India. Police believe the murder occurred at around 7 pm on December 31. Further investigation is currently underway.

The Indian Embassy in the United States has expressed condolences to Nikita’s family.
