New Delhi: The central government has raised passport fees across categories. The standard fee for a 36-page passport has been increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500, while the Tatkal fee has gone up from Rs 3,500 to Rs 5,000. The Centre has announced that the revised fee structure will come into effect from July 1.

For a 60-page passport, the regular fee has been raised from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,500, and the Tatkal fee from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000. For replacement of lost or damaged passports, the fee for a 36-page passport has been set at Rs 5,000 under the regular process and Rs 7,500 under Tatkal. For applicants below 18 years of age, the fee has been set at Rs 1,750 under the regular process and Rs 4,250 under Tatkal.

The fee for a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) and Surrender Certificate will be Rs 750 within India and $40 abroad. Emergency certificates will continue to be issued free of cost within India, but those abroad will need to pay $15. The revised rates will apply to all applications submitted on or after July 1. This marks the first time in 14 years that the Centre has hiked passport fees.
