Hanamkonda: Beneficiaries of the Indiramma housing scheme in Telangana are facing hardships after moving into their newly allotted double-bedroom homes. A total of 592 houses were handed over in the Balasamudram area, but residents complain that basic facilities such as electricity, drinking water and drainage connections are missing.

Without water supply, many families are depending on private sources and public toilets, while some households have drawn illegal power connections from adjacent poles.

“The lack of facilities has left several families without a safe place to sleep. Some are staying with relatives,” said beneficiary G Lakshmi. Residents also raised safety concerns, reporting the presence of snakes and insects in the dark, unfinished corners of the houses.

Though water tankers have been sent by the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) after repeated appeals, drainage facilities remain incomplete. “Women are finding it especially difficult at night without access to toilets,” another resident, A Nagalakshmi, said.

Residents have urged Warangal West MLA Naini Rajender Reddy and civic officials to intervene and provide essential services at the earliest.
