Final SIR Voter List Released; Names Can Be Verified

Thiruvananthapuram: The final list of the Voter List Intensive Revision (SIR) has been published. The final list includes 2.69 crore (2,69,53,644) names. Through the website https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/, voters can check whether their names are included in the list. A copy of the final list will also be handed over to political parties on a constituency basis. The upcoming Assembly election will be based on this final list.
During the SIR process, 24.50 lakh people were removed in various phases. When the SIR process began, there were 2.78 crore voters. Among them, 24.08 lakh were removed because they could not be identified from the draft list. Additionally, 53,229 people, including those who had died or acquired foreign citizenship, were excluded. These individuals were removed during the enumeration and hearing phases.
Among those included in the draft list, 19.32 lakh people were not listed in the 2002 voter list, either under their own names or under the names of their parents or guardians. Another 17.56 lakh were suspected due to mismatches in their name or address. 36.88 lakh people belonging to both of these categories were given notice and subjected to hearings.
Including those who were rejected, the SIR list was reduced to 2.53 crore. However, with 15.64 lakh people newly added through fresh applications, the total number of voters reached 2.69 crore.
Names can still be added to the voter list. Although the SIR application process ended on January 31, applications for inclusion can still be submitted until the last date for submitting nominations for the Legislative Assembly election. As of February 16, 1.23 lakh new applications (Form 6) have been received, including 7,421 applications from NRIs. Action on these applications will be taken after the publication of the final voter list. Once verified, these names will be included in the supplementary list.
