AIKS slams Rahul Gandhi over remarks against CPI(M), CM Pinarayi Vijayan

New Delhi: The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) on Monday strongly criticised Rahul Gandhi over his recent remarks targeting the CPI(M) and the Pinarayi Vijayan government in Kerala, accusing the Congress leader of making “baseless allegations” and attempting to misrepresent the Left party’s policies.

In a statement, Vijoo Krishnan, general secretary of the AIKS, said it was ironic for the Congress leader to brand the CPI(M) as “corporate-friendly” while the Congress itself had historically enabled corporate houses to accumulate massive profits. He alleged that under policies pursued by successive congress governments, large business groups such as the Reliance Industries, Adani Group, Tata Group and Birla Group had expanded significantly while political parties benefited from corporate donations, including those routed through the controversial Electoral Bonds Scheme.

He said the Congress’s long-standing slogan of “Garibi Hatao” had not translated into meaningful outcomes in states governed by either the Congress or the Bharatiya Janata Party. In contrast, he argued, Kerala under the LDF government had made major gains in social welfare and poverty reduction, pointing to the state’s human development indicators and housing programs that have provided homes to more than five lakh families.

The AIKS leader also accused Rahul Gandhi of adopting contradictory positions on international economic policies. While the Congress leader has recently criticised the India–US trade deal, Vijoo Krishnan said Rahul Gandhi had earlier praised the global dominance of the United States economy, stating in a December 2025 remark that India had benefited from US hegemony.

He further stated that Congress governments had historically promoted pro-market reforms and trade agreements, including the India–US Nuclear Agreement, the India–ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, and negotiations toward an India–EU free trade pact. These policies, he argued, contributed to agrarian distress and deepened the crisis faced by farmers.

The AIKS also criticised Rahul Gandhi for suggesting the use of central investigative agencies against Kerala’s chief minister, calling the demand politically motivated. Vijoo Krishnan pointed to earlier cases involving Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, saying similar calls for action had ultimately collapsed in court.

Concluding his statement, he said the people of Kerala would “reject such allegations” and reaffirm their support for the Left Democratic Front in the upcoming assembly elections.
