Thrissur: Even while battling severe physical pain and illness, Siya Fathima has proven that an indomitable spirit can overcome any obstacle. Her ‘A’ grade in the Arabic Poster Designing category at the State School Arts Festival is not just a victory—it is a symbol of perseverance and survival in the face of adversity. Competing as participant number 912, Siya showed the world that no illness can hold back creativity and determination.

Despite excruciating pain, Siya remained committed to her art and expressed a strong desire to compete in her favorite category. Recognizing her determination, Education Minister V. Sivankutty intervened to ensure she could participate online, with the minister and organizers observing the competition in real time—a gesture that brought immense joy to Siya and her family.

Participating from home via video conference, Siya displayed confidence and creativity in every stroke of her poster. When the results were announced, the brilliant ‘A’ grade came as a fitting recognition of her talent and courage.

Siya Fathima, a student of VKPKHMMRV HSS, Padanna, Kasargod, is suffering from vasculitis, a severe medical condition. As travel could pose a serious risk to her life, doctors had strictly advised against her attending the venue in Thrissur. Unable to be present in person, Siya and her teachers brought the matter to the attention of Education Minister V Sivankutty.

Acknowledging that Siya’s desire to participate in the festival despite excruciating pain could not be ignored, the minister issued a special order on humanitarian grounds, enabling her to take part in the competition online. Minister Sivankutty also watched the competition online along with the organizers.
