Opposition Seeks to Exempt Their Members from Sabarimala Gold Theft Case, Says M.B. Rajesh

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister M.B. Rajesh stated that the government's stance is clear: those who stole gold in Sabarimala will be brought before the law. The Chief Minister has repeatedly emphasised this. Minister Rajesh asked in the Assembly whether the opposition wants those who stole gold in Sabarimala to face the law or if they are trying to protect their own people involved in the crime.
The opposition has called for the removal of the tantri from the case. Rajesh questioned what makes the tantri special, as he is one of the accused in the gold theft case. The tantri has the same rights as any other accused. He also pointed out that the tantri has two advocates outside the Assembly, namely the UDF and the BJP. Since the BJP is not present in the Assembly, Rajesh said that the opposition has taken over during the strategy session meant for the BJP.
The opposition is hoping for a golden opportunity to take to the streets again, keeping political strategy in mind. It was revealed by Sreedharan Pillai the previous day that the minister had acted based on his advice. Rajesh further noted that it was the UDF and BJP who jointly seized this golden opportunity. On that day, the KPCC president had called for the BJP to follow their lead.
Rajesh also mentioned that the Muslim League is waiting to offer support to the BJP, describing it as a political maneuver. He pointed out that Assam Congress leader Bhupen Bora recently joined the BJP, and questioned how many sitting members will remain in the Congress or UDF in the future. He concluded that there is no guarantee, labeling the situation as political manipulation.
