Nenmara Double Murder Victims' Family Seeks Maximum Punishment for Convict Chenthamara

Palakkad: The children of Sudhakaran and Sajitha, victims of the Nenmara double murder case, have demanded the maximum punishment for convict Chenthamara, saying he deserves the death penalty.
"He should be sentenced to death. He fears nothing. We have lost our father, mother and grandmother. Even inside the courtroom, he continued to issue threats. He must receive the punishment he deserves," Sudhakaran's children told reporters after the Palakkad Additional Sessions Court found Chenthamara guilty in the case.
Sajitha's sister also said the family continues to live in fear and urged the government to ensure the protection of the children.
Chenthamara continued to make defiant remarks in court after the verdict, declaring that he was "not Mahatma Gandhi" and warning that he would commit more murders if necessary.
The court is scheduled to pronounce the sentence on July 15.
The case relates to the January 27, 2025, murders of Pothundi residents Sudhakaran and his mother, Lakshmi, who were hacked to death by Chenthamara (Chenthamarakshan, 60). Investigators said the murders were driven by personal enmity.
In 2019, Chenthamara had also murdered Sudhakaran's wife, Sajitha, alleging that she and her family were responsible for the breakdown of his relationship with his wife and daughter. He allegedly committed the murders of Sudhakaran and Lakshmi after being released on bail in that case.
According to the prosecution, Chenthamara first attacked Sudhakaran. Lakshmi, who rushed to the scene after witnessing the assault, was also killed.
