Thiruvananthapuram: All educational institutions in Kozhikode and Kasaragod districts will remain closed on Tuesday following red alerts issued by the India Meteorological Department for both districts amid continuing heavy rainfall. The respective District Collectors issued the holiday orders as a precautionary measure.
Kasaragod
The closure in Kasaragod covers all educational institutions including schools, professional colleges, anganwadis, tuition centres, CBSE and ICSE schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and madrassas. However, residential schools are exempt from the order. Pre-scheduled university and public examinations as well as interviews will be held as planned, the Kasaragod District Collector confirmed.
Kozhikode
Heavy rainfall has already caused waterlogging at several locations across Kozhikode district. With strong winds and further heavy rain forecast in the coming days, the District Collector ordered the closure of all schools, professional colleges, madrassas, tuition centres, and anganwadis on Tuesday as a precautionary measure. University examinations and PSC examinations, however, will proceed as originally scheduled, the Kozhikode Collector clarified.
