Kerala Police Warns of Financial Scams Through Fake FIFA World Cup TV Apps

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police has issued a warning about financial frauds being carried out through fake TV applications related to the FIFA World Cup.

In an advisory, the police urged people not to download apps from links shared on social media and advised users to install applications only through official platforms such as the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

The police cautioned the public not to fall for promises such as free subscriptions, unlimited sports content, or access to all matches free of cost.

According to the advisory, fraudsters use links to gain unauthorized access to various applications on users’ phones without their permission. They can then take complete control of the device and illegally withdraw money from bank accounts through UPI applications.

The police urged people to remain highly vigilant and avoid installing unverified applications or clicking on suspicious links.
