Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department has declared a yellow alert in two districts in the state today, with Kannur and Kasaragod under caution notices in view of the likelihood of strong rainfall. Isolated spots in these districts are expected to receive between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm of rain within 24 hours.
No rainfall warnings have been issued anywhere in the state for tomorrow (Wednesday). A yellow alert has, however, been declared for Thursday in four districts — Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam.
Meanwhile, the fishing ban currently in force along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts will continue in view of rough seas and adverse weather conditions. Authorities have warned fishermen to remain cautious, as winds of 40 to 50 km/h, gusting up to 60 km/h at times, are likely to be expected along these coasts.
