New Delhi: A lapse by the Kerala House protocol office caused Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan to miss his flight from Delhi to Keralam. He had arrived at the airport an hour and a half ahead of his 2.50 pm flight to Kozhikode, scheduled after a Polit bureau meeting in Delhi. CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan, who was to take a 3.30 pm flight to Thiruvananthapuram, was also with him at the time.

The Kerala House protocol division had failed to properly inform the airline staff about the Opposition Leader's travel details. While he was resting in the lounge, the protocol officer also failed to inform him in time about his departure schedule. By the time he reached the gate, airline staff informed him that the boarding time had already passed. Airline staff apologised to the Opposition Leader for the disruption, explaining that they had not received proper advance notice from the officials concerned. He subsequently returned to Kerala on the 7.15 pm flight to Kannur.
