Hezbollah rejects Lebanon-Israel framework, vows to continue armed resistance

Beirut: Hezbollah has rejected the recently announced framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel and reaffirmed that it will continue its armed campaign, signalling further uncertainty over efforts to stabilise the region.
Speaking to international media, Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem said the group would not end its military activities despite the diplomatic developments.
“We will continue as a resistance in the field to defeat the occupation,” Qassem said, adding that Hezbollah had remained active through difficult periods and had no intention of changing its position now.
The remarks come amid ongoing regional efforts to consolidate ceasefire arrangements and implement agreements intended to reduce tensions following months of conflict.
Qassem strongly criticised the framework agreement reached in Washington between Lebanon and Israel, arguing that it does not serve Lebanon’s interests. According to his statement to international media, Hezbollah considers the arrangement unacceptable and believes it compromises national sovereignty.
Describing the understanding as “humiliating” and “a surrender of sovereignty”, Qassem said Hezbollah does not recognise the framework as valid.
Instead, the Hezbollah leader called for implementation of the broader Iranian-American Memorandum of Understanding, suggesting that regional arrangements linked to that process should take precedence over bilateral understandings involving Lebanon and Israel.
His comments indicate that divisions remain over the diplomatic path forward despite recent attempts to ease tensions across the region.
