Heavy Rain Continues in Kerala, Orange and Yellow Alerts for Multiple Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rainfall continues across Kerala, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing alerts for several districts as the state braces for more rain and strong winds over the coming days. Today, an orange alert has been declared for Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod, signaling the possibility of very heavy rain, while a yellow alert is in place for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Wayanad districts.
The IMD has forecasted that isolated areas in Kerala may continue to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and winds reaching 30 to 40 kilometers per hour from today until October 23. Orange alerts have also been extended for Idukki and Ernakulam districts for the 21st and 23rd, while yellow alerts are scheduled for various districts on the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd, indicating that scattered heavy rain is expected across these regions.
Authorities have advised residents living in landslide-prone areas, along riverbanks, and near dams to relocate to safer locations and follow official instructions. Measures are being taken to prevent accidents from mudslides, flash floods, and other weather-related hazards.
