Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to rapper Hirandas Murali, popularly known as Vedan, in a rape case. The court observed that while the allegations were serious, his custodial interrogation was not required at this stage.
Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas granted the relief on a plea filed by the rapper, who was accused by a lady doctor of engaging in a sexual relationship with her on the promise of marriage and later withdrawing from it. She further alleged that he subjected her to sexual harassment multiple times between 2021 and 2023.
The detailed order granting anticipatory bail is awaited.
