Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (Keltron) has secured orders worth Rs. 1,281 crore from Tamil Nadu alone over the past year, marking a significant expansion of its operations outside the state, said Industries Minister P. Rajeev.

"Of the total orders, projects worth Rs. 1,000 crore were secured through competitive tenders, which highlights Keltron's growing reputation for quality and efficiency," said Industries Minister P. Rajeev.

Among the major projects completed by Keltron in Tamil Nadu are the establishment of 8,209 high-tech IT labs across 7,985 schools (Rs. 519 crore), installation of 22,931 smart classrooms in various schools (Rs. 455 crore), and supply of 79,723 tablet computers for use by primary school teachers (Rs. 101 crore).

According to the Minister, a Rs. 168 crore project in Odisha for setting up smart classrooms, completed in 2024, played a crucial role in Keltron winning the high-value Tamil Nadu tenders. The successful execution of that project paved the way for a fresh Rs. 205 crore order from Tamil Nadu, which includes the establishment of 654 high-tech IT labs, 1,016 computer labs, and 5,732 smart classrooms.

Keltron has also secured several orders from other states, indicating its growing national presence.

In the defence sector, Keltron continues to be one of the most trusted partners, the Minister said. For the first time in its history, the public sector enterprise crossed Rs. 1,000 crore in annual revenue, marking a milestone in its journey.

"Keltron is once again emerging as a matter of pride for Kerala," Mr. Rajeeve said.
