An agreement for setting up the Skill Development Institute by BPCL Kochi Refinery in Kalamassery was signed recently. The institute will be established on TCC’s land near the Kalamassery Container Road. It will rise on a four-acre campus, covering an area of 110,000 square feet. Around 10 crore rupees will be spent annually on student accommodation, food, and uniforms.
Courses will include Advanced Welding with Robotics, Precision Manufacturing, Robotics and Automation, Electric Home Automation, Industrial Transportation, Water Management and Modern Plumbing, Advanced Computing, Climate and Environment Management, Media and Entertainment, and Smart Manufacturing. The courses will range from three to six months in duration.
Every year, 1,600 students will be admitted. The institute will function in collaboration with organisations active in the skill development sector, such as ASAP and NTTF.
