Asian Games 2026: Elavenil Valarivan Wins Silver in Women's 10m Air Rifle Individual Event

Nagoya: India won another medal at the Asian Games, with shooter Elavenil Valarivan clinching silver in the women's 10m air rifle individual event. The Indian narrowly missed out on gold in a closely contested final, with Japan's Hinachi Taichi taking the top spot.
Elavenil had led by one point after the initial shots but slipped to silver in the final stages of the competition. Elavenil finished with an impressive 252.4 while Hinata had 253
Elavenil is a native of Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu. This is her second medal at the Asian Games. Elavenil, Malayali shooter Vidarsha K Vinod and Sonam Maskar had earlier won silver in the women's 10m air rifle team event.
India has also secured another medal in mixed martial arts. Suchika reached the semifinals of the women's traditional MMA 60kg category after defeating Mongolia's Altanchimeg Baigalmaa 2-0 in the quarterfinals. Mixed martial arts has been included in the Asian Games for the first time this year.
