Nilambur: LDF candidate M. Swaraj is drawing overwhelming support from the people of Nilambur as the by-election approaches. His campaign is receiving an enthusiastic response, with voters greeting him warmly wherever he goes. Even on Bakrid, a day typically reserved for festivities, Swaraj continued his outreach, visiting homes in the constituency and extending heartfelt greetings. Many residents, despite the holiday, waited along the roadsides to show their respect and affection for their candidate.
Swaraj’s growing popularity is evident across the region, as he strengthens his connection with the electorate. Tomorrow, his campaign will head to the Karulai Panchayat, where people of all ages are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to meet him. As a token of love and admiration, Swaraj is often welcomed with flowers by his supporters.
Yesterday, Minister Veena George and actor P. P. Kunhikrishnan joined Swaraj in his campaign at various locations, adding further momentum to his efforts. The slogan "Let’s win together" has resonated deeply with the people, especially in the hill areas, reflecting their strong bond with Swaraj.
With just 13 days left for the Nilambur by-election, Swaraj’s campaign is rapidly gaining ground. His clear, precise speeches are enhancing his popularity, making him a formidable candidate. The election, which will see ten candidates contesting for the seat, is now presenting a challenge for the UDF, who initially believed they had an easy victory in hand.
Swaraj’s rising support has caught the attention of both the Muslim League and Congress leaders, signaling a shift in public sentiment that is now troubling the UDF camp. Within the UDF itself, the candidate Aryadan Shaukath is facing internal resistance, with even members of the League expressing dissatisfaction. Additionally, the presence of candidates like P.V. Anwar further complicates the situation for the opposition.
The BJP has fielded Adv. Mohan George, a member of the Kerala Congress (Joseph faction), as their candidate, while Adv. Sadik Naduthodi is contesting on behalf of the SDPI. There are also five independent candidates in the fray. Nilambur has 2,32,384 registered voters, with polling set for the 19th of this month and results to be declared on the 23rd.
