Withdraw LPG Cylinder Price Hike: CPI(M) Polit Bureau

New Delhi: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureau has demanded that the Central Government immediately withdraw the steep hike in the prices of domestic and commercial gas cylinders. The price of domestic gas cylinders has been increased by Rs 60.
The CPI(M) said in a statement that this increase does not even spare the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. It added that constantly increasing the burden on people is anti-people in nature.
The price of commercial cylinders has been increased by Rs 114.50, which will also significantly affect consumers. The price hike will place a greater burden on the lower-income groups, the middle class, and workers.
The CPI(M) also clarified that the Centre’s unwillingness to give up tax revenue from cylinders exposes its anti-people policy.
In its statement, the CPI(M) further said that the Central Government’s claim that the West Asia conflict is responsible for the price rise is hypocritical, and alleged that the move reflects the Centre yielding to the interests of the Donald Trump administration and to U.S. dominance.
