West Bengal Elections: Left Front Releases First List of Candidates

Kolkatta: The Left Front has released its first list of candidates for the West Bengal Assembly elections. Out of a total of 294 seats, candidates have been announced for 192 constituencies. The CPI(M) has fielded 142 candidates in the first list. The seat distribution among the parties is as follows: CPI(M) - 142, CPI - 14, Forward Bloc - 21, RSP - 13, Marxist Forward Bloc - 1, and RCPI - 1. Of the total candidates, 28 are women. The list also includes individuals from minority communities.
Notable figures in the list include CPI(M) Central Committee members Meenakshi Mukherjee and Deblina Hembram, SFI General Secretary Mayukh Bishwas, DYFI State Secretary Debjyoti Sinha, former JNU Student Union President Dipsita Dhar, and former Rajya Sabha member Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya.
Left Front Chairman Biman Bose stated that the second list of candidates will be released in the coming days. CPI(ML) will contest in alliance with the Liberation and ISF parties, with seat-sharing discussions already completed. Prominent figures from various fields will also contest as independents. CPIM State Secretary Mohammad Salim and leaders of other Left Front parties also attended the press conference.
