West Bengal Election: Election Commission Releases Third Draft Voter List Ahead of Polls

Kolkata: Ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, the Election Commission has released the third supplementary voter list as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. This list follows the publication of the first (March 23) and second (March 27) lists, with the first list containing 10 million names and the second list including 21 million names. The exact details of the third list have not yet been disclosed.

The voter count, which stood at 76.6 million when the SIR process began, has now reduced to 64.4 million, with millions of people being removed from the list. Approximately 6 million voters are still under scrutiny. This action follows widespread allegations of discrepancies, with the Supreme Court stepping in to address irregularities.

The voting for the 294 seats in West Bengal will take place in two phases:

First phase: April 23 (152 constituencies)

Second phase: April 29 (142 constituencies)
