Vijay’s TVK Emerges as Key Challenger in Tamil Nadu; AIADMK Slips to Third in Early Trends

Chennai: As vote counting progresses in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, significant shifts are emerging in the state’s political landscape. Actor-turned-politician Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), appears to have pushed the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) into second position in several constituencies, signaling a major realignment.

According to early trends, Vijay is maintaining a clear lead in both Tiruchirappalli East and Perambur, the two constituencies he is contesting. His party’s performance suggests it could emerge as a strong force in the state.

Breaking away from the long-standing bipolar contest between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and AIADMK, TVK has surged to first position in multiple constituencies. AIADMK, once a dominant force, has been relegated to third place even in some of its traditional strongholds.

The rise of TVK appears to have dented the DMK’s overall vote share. Early indications suggest that Vijay’s party has gained notable traction among urban voters and the youth, reshaping the dynamics of Tamil Nadu politics.
