A New Era Begins: Vijay Assumes Office as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister

Vijay swearing-in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu
After weeks of political uncertainty, a new government led by Vijay assumes office in Tamil Nadu. The swearing-in ceremony took place at 10 a.m. at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, where Governor will administer the oath of office. Alongside Vijay, a nine-member cabinet is also sworn in today.
Several prominent personalities from the film industry have arrived to witness the ceremony, while Vijay’s supporters across Tamil Nadu are celebrating enthusiastically. On Saturday evening, Vijay visited the Raj Bhavan and met Governor Rajendra Arlekar to submit letters of support from 120 MLAs. This was reportedly Vijay’s fourth meeting with the Governor within a week as part of efforts to secure an invitation to form the government.
The development marks the end of days of political negotiations and uncertainty. Although Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged as the single largest party with 108 seats in the election, it fell short of a majority. The deadlock ended after key allies of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam extended support to Vijay.
Parties that have backed the coalition government include the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and the Indian National Congress.
The nine ministers who were administered oath along with Vijay were N. Anand, Aadhav Arjuna, K.G. Arunraj, K.A. Sengottaiyan, P. Venkataramanan, R. Nirmalkumar, Rajmohan, T.K. Prabhu and S. Keerthana.
