Dehradun: A large cache of high-intensity explosive material was discovered near a school in Uttarakhand’s Almora district. Authorities recovered 161 gelatin sticks weighing over 20 kilograms from bushes close to a Government Higher Secondary School.

The school principal reportedly noticed suspicious packets lying in the nearby thicket and immediately alerted the police. Following this, police personnel and a bomb disposal squad reached the spot and secured the area.

According to officials, the seized items are gelatin sticks commonly used for activities such as stone blasting. Police have launched an investigation to determine how the explosives were brought into the village and for what purpose.

The discovery comes at a time of heightened security, especially in the aftermath of the recent suicide blast near Delhi’s Red Fort. Police have intensified inspections and monitoring in the region as a precautionary measure.
