New Delhi: Dr. John Brittas MP has written a letter to the Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, demanding an urgent review of the directives in the ‘Sanchar Saathi’ app.

The MP stated that the app is an attempt to bring all citizens under the central government’s surveillance net, posing a severe attack on privacy and democracy. He also expressed concern that data collection through the app continues even after it is uninstalled. Additionally, he said that the SIM-to-device directive constitutes an intrusion into citizens’ communications and demanded that the SIM -to-device binding regulation be withdrawn. Dr. Brittas MP requested an appropriate response on the matter.

Dr. John Brittas MP expressed that the aim of the ‘Sanchar Saathi’ app is to turn India into a surveillance state. He said it intends to undermine democracy through technology and is a way to lay the groundwork for mass surveillance in the country. He also described it as an encroachment on fundamental rights and vowed to fight strongly against it.
