SC Seeks Replies From Centre, Jharkhand Govt on Plea for Independent Probe into JPSC Exam Irregularities

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday sought replies from the Centre, Jharkhand government and Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) on a petition seeking an independent probe into alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana issued notices to the respondents, including the Union government, state government and JPSC.

The petitioner has sought a time-bound investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged lapses in the examination. Alternatively, the plea seeks an inquiry headed by a former Supreme Court judge.

Activist Harisharan Devgan filed the petition through advocate Satyam Singh Rajput under Article 32 of the Constitution. Senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra appeared for the petitioner before the bench.

The petitioner has urged the apex court to intervene, citing concerns regarding the integrity of the recruitment examination and seeking an independent mechanism to investigate the alleged irregularities.

The plea maintains that an impartial investigation is required to address the concerns surrounding the examination and safeguard the credibility of the selection process.
