Chennai: The Central Committee of the Southern Railway Employees Union (DREU-CITU) organized a protest march and public meeting to the office of the General Manager in Chennai, raising a range of labour-related issues affecting employees in the Southern Railway zone.

The protesters demanded an end to what they described as the authorities' discriminatory approach towards the union. Their key demands included the allotment of office space to the union, the immediate convening of discussion forums such as PNM (Permanent Negotiating Machinery) and FNM (Formal Negotiating Machinery), and the implementation of pending inter-railway and inter-division transfers that have been kept on hold.

Thousands of railway employees from various divisions of Southern Railway participated in the protest march. The public meeting was chaired by DREU Working President A. Janakiraman. General Secretary Baby Shakeela, G. Sukumaran, A. Soundararajan, Elangovan, R. G. Pillai, V. Sujith, K. M. Anil Kumar, Raja, and A. Venkittaraman were among those who addressed the gathering.
