New Delhi: The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has decided to intensify the farmers’ agitation across the country, announcing major protests in Delhi and various parts of India on November 26. The protests will mark the sixth anniversary of the historic farmers’ movement in Delhi.

The key decisions were taken at the SKM National Council meeting held in Karnal, Haryana, on October 12. A total of 142 delegates from 17 states participated in the meeting. The council also decided to organise mass demonstrations on October 23 at all district and taluk headquarters across the country in solidarity with students and youth protesting against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The SKM strongly condemned the crackdown and police action against protesters in Delhi, including women students. Its leaders said preventing peaceful protests was unconstitutional and that farmers would come forward to protect those taking part in the agitation.

The meeting also criticised the Supreme Court for not taking suo motu cognisance of the violence in the national capital. The SKM called for strict measures to prevent a breakdown of law and order and urged people to unite to protect democracy.

The SKM called on farmers across the country to prepare for prolonged, multi-day agitations until all their demands are met. These include enacting a law guaranteeing minimum support prices (MSP), immediately halting the revision of electoral rolls, restoring the voting rights of 13.41 crore citizens who have lost them, and removing the Chief Election Commissioner.

Other demands include waiving farmers’ debts; providing compensation of ₹25 lakh to the families of farmers who died by suicide; scrapping electricity privatisation and the Seeds Bill, 2025; abandoning free trade agreements; guaranteeing land rights to farmers and Adivasis; repealing the labour codes; restoring the employment guarantee scheme; and ensuring pensions and insurance coverage for farmers.
