Delhi Building Collapse: SFI Demands Immediate Government Intervention Over Lapses

SFI protesting
New Delhi: SFI has staged a protest over the death of seven people after a hostel building collapsed at Satya Niketan in Delhi. The PG building, located near Delhi University’s South Campus, collapsed, killing seven people.
Several people were injured in the incident, while reports also indicated that many others are still trapped under the debris.
The SFI organised a protest march to the Delhi Secretariat demanding transparent and speedy rescue operations, free and quality medical treatment for the injured, and strict action against those responsible for unauthorised construction and the failure to carry out necessary repairs.
SFI leaders visited the Delhi AIIMS Trauma Centre, where injured students are undergoing treatment.
The SFI also demanded an assessment of the circumstances under which students are forced to pay high rents to stay in such illegally constructed hostels.
The organisation said the incident also exposed the negligence of coaching centres that operate without providing students with proper accommodation facilities.
