New Delhi: Delhi Police detained several members of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) during a peaceful march protesting Israel’s military actions in Gaza and demanding the release of activists aboard the Freedom Flotilla, a humanitarian aid mission.

The SFI’s Delhi unit had organised the demonstration to condemn what they called Israel’s "imperialist and Zionist aggression" and to express solidarity with Palestine. Protesters also called for the immediate release of detained flotilla activists, who were attempting to deliver aid to Gaza amid the ongoing blockade.
Eyewitnesses reported a heavy police presence, with multiple students and activists being forcibly taken into custody. The SFI has condemned the detentions, calling them an "attack on democratic dissent.'

Delhi Police have not yet issued an official statement regarding the reasons for the detentions.
