New Delhi: The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 28 civilians and left many others seriously injured.
In a statement issued by SFI National President VP Sanu and General Secretary Mayukh Biswas, the student organization expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
Describing the attack as a “horrific and heinous crime,” the Central Executive Committee of the SFI demanded that those responsible be swiftly apprehended and brought to justice. The statement also sharply criticized the central government, calling the attack a glaring security lapse under its watch, since law and order and internal security fall under its jurisdiction.
“In the current situation, it is essential that all possible measures are taken to ensure those responsible for this cowardly act are held accountable and punished,” the SFI said.
The organization further urged the Centre to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the incident, with particular focus on the intelligence and security failures that allowed militants to target a popular tourist destination.
“The safety of tourists and local residents must be guaranteed. Such grave lapses cannot be allowed to recur,” the statement emphasized.
Reaffirming its solidarity with the people of India in the wake of the tragedy, the SFI called on the Union Government to take immediate, decisive action to protect civilians in Kashmir and restore public faith in national security systems.
