New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in India on Thursday evening to participate in the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit. He landed at Delhi airport around 7 pm, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally received him at Palam Air Force Station, greeting him with a warm embrace. The unusual gesture underscored the special ties between the two countries.

The two leaders travelled together in the same car to the Prime Minister’s residence and shared dinner. Putin then proceeded to ITC Maurya Hotel.

On Friday, he will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 11 am, followed by a visit to Rajghat at 11:30 am to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi. The annual summit and bilateral talks will be held at Hyderabad House at noon, followed by a joint press statement.

President Droupadi Murmu will host a dinner for Putin at 7 pm, after which his visit will conclude at 9 pm.
