J&K Govt Announces Compensation After Nowgam Police Station Blast

Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir government has announced compensation for the family of those who died in the explosion at Nowgam police station on Friday night. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has stated that the government will rebuild the police station that was destroyed in the explosion, along with several nearby houses.
The families of the dead will receive 10 lakhs rupees from the government, while, one lakh each will be given to those who got injured in the blast.
The explosives seized from the Faridabad raid was stored at the Nowgam police station. The explosion happened while the officials were extracting samples from these explosives. For the past two days, forensic teams had been examining the explosives. Around 11:20 p.m. last night, the explosives stored in an open area detonated. The massive explosion destroyed the Nowgam police station building and several nearby structures.
