Delhi Tense as CJP Protest Intensifies; Police Continue Attacking Students

New Delhi: The protests demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, led by the Cockroach Janta Party and other student organisations, turned tense in Delhi late at night. Police attacked protesters near Connaught Place and used tear gas against the demonstrators.

Heavy security has been deployed around the Parliament premises in anticipation of protesters attempting to reach the area. The CJP has announced that the protest will continue today as well. The disruption to Parliament sessions and the intensifying protests have put the government on the defensive.

Thousands of students who took part in the Parliament march bore the brunt of brutal action by police and central forces. Those injured are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Delhi, with some in a serious condition. A 20-year-old student who sustained a head injury is in the ICU at RML Hospital. Visitors are being denied access to the injured, and false cases are being registered against those undergoing treatment and those who come to visit them.

Both Houses of Parliament are expected to remain turbulent today over the NEET question paper leak and the police action in Delhi. CPI(M) MPs Amra Ram, K Radhakrishnan, Dr John Brittas, Dr V Sivadasan, A A Rahim, Su Venkatesan and R Sachithanantham, CPI MPs P Santhosh Kumar, P P Suneer and K Subbarayan, and Kerala Congress (M) MP Jose K Mani marched to Jantar Mantar and extended their support to the protest.
