Helium Gas Cylinder Explosion Near Mysuru Palace Leaves One Dead, Five Injured

Mysuru: One person was killed and five others were injured when a helium gas cylinder used for filling balloons exploded in front of the Mysuru Palace in Karnataka. The incident occurred around 8.30 pm on Thursday near the Jayamarthanda Gate of the palace.


The deceased has been identified as Salim (40), the balloon vendor and a native of Thofiya village in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh. He died on the spot due to the explosion.


Those injured in the incident are Shehnaz Shabbir (54), Lakshmi (45), Kottresh Gutte (54), Manjula Nanjangud (29), and Ranjitha (30), who were present nearby at the time of the blast. They were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital and are currently undergoing specialised treatment.


The accident occurred at a time when there was heavy crowding in front of the palace due to the Christmas holidays. The loud explosion caused panic among the public in the area.


Mysuru Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
