Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rainfall throughout the week in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar districts. The weather department has also warned of heavy rainfall along the Konkan coast and thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain in parts of the Marathwada and Vidarbha regions.

Mumbai and its neighbouring districts are expected to receive light rain until Thursday. Raigad and Ratnagiri districts are likely to experience light rainfall until Wednesday, followed by moderate showers. Sindhudurg, the southern coastal district, is expected to receive the heaviest rainfall, with intense showers forecast from Wednesday onward. Moderate rainfall is also likely this week in the hilly regions of Pune, Satara and Kolhapur districts.

Meanwhile, districts including Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia and Nagpur in the Vidarbha region are likely to experience strong thunderstorms beginning Tuesday or Wednesday. Gusty winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph are also expected.

Authorities have advised farmers to remain alert, warning that strong winds and heavy rainfall could cause localized power disruptions and damage to crops.

The IMD has advised farmers to move harvested grains to safe storage locations. It has also urged the public to avoid open areas and water bodies during thunderstorms and not to take shelter under trees.
