Narendra Modi's Name Surfaces in Jeffrey Epstein Documents

New Delhi: The release of previously undisclosed documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein by the US Department of Justice has triggered significant controversy in Indian politics. The issue gained attention after references to Prime Minister Narendra Modi were reportedly found among the millions of documents made public.

According to the released material, emails allegedly contain a remark by Epstein claiming that Modi had taken his advice and travelled to Israel on behalf of former US President Donald Trump. The communication also suggests that this had yielded some benefit. However, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has firmly rejected these claims.

The documents are said to indicate that Epstein attempted to build connections with senior Indian figures between 2014 and 2019. There are also suggestions that such efforts coincided with the Prime Minister’s visit to Israel in 2017.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed the allegations against the Prime Minister outright. The ministry stated that Epstein may have mentioned certain names in records to serve his own interests and clarified that the Prime Minister has no involvement in any criminal activity.

Meanwhile, opposition parties have called for a high-level investigation. Congress leader Pawan Khera said there should be greater clarity regarding the Prime Minister’s international associations.

Although Modi’s name does not appear on Epstein’s client list, the opposition argues that attempts by individuals within Epstein’s network to reach Indian leadership are a matter of concern. The US House Oversight Committee has also released around 95,000 images, including photographs featuring prominent figures such as Donald Trump and Bill Clinton.
